Happenings at Guild Meeting October 16th

We had a fun quilt guild meeting...Here are the highlights...

Cathy told us about the Cedar Chest Quilt Guild having a retreat in January, 2015.  Here is a link to their information.http://cedarchestquiltersguild.org/retreat/  Sounds like fun!

We started with show and tell:

Arlene brought a few of her completed items...
This is a quilt she made from scraps...and did the quilting by hand.

This is a knitted afghan she made.  Lots of work.  She wouldn't tell us how long she has been working on this one.

Rosemary made this cute puff quilt and put minky on the back.

She added a row to our row by row quilt.

She also showed her latest blocks finished.
Peggy brought us a Block of the Month Quilt she finished...

And a second top she made from left over fabric...

Whitney made a cute wall hanging for her daughters room...

Cindy brought some wall hangings to show us...Soooo cute!

Diana has been busy, too.  Here is the front...

 And here is the back...

 Another finish for Diana...

She challenged us to find an error in fabric choice but we all agreed it was beautiful as is.

Susan P. brought her Blue Plate Special quilt...

  and her Card Trick block...
 and a maple leaf block

Susan Wilcox brought a couple of pillows she made for Halloween... First up her Bat Pillow...

And a close up of it...

And her Spider Pillow....

And a close up ...

We love Show and Tell...It inspires us all to do a little more....

Cathi Adamson told us about the Christmas Market that is being planned for Nov 29th in the parking lot of the Territorial Statehouse.  It will be held from 12-8 pm.  Booths are available. (Cathy Jolley says if there is enough interest the guild will pay for the booth)  Rosemary took an application for the booth and if you have any questions call Cathi Adamson at 520-255-2965.

Sue Weidauer showed some holiday pillow ideas...The first one was making a simple plain pillow and then adding a sleeve for each holiday.

The second was an awesome Poinsettia pillow.  Here is the link to the pattern and a tutorial on how to make it.  http://thecraftyquilter.com/2013/01/christmas-once-a-month-january/

Our next Quilt Guild Meeting will be November 20th...

Cathy also encouraged us all to put together our Block of the Month Quilt so that in January we could learn to bind it.  So get to work ladies and if you make Christmas presents and want to show and tell them be sure to take pictures and either email them to me at oldcapitalquiltguild@gmail.com or text them to me 435-253-2249 and I will do a special blog post with our Christmas Show and Tell.
