Disappearing 4 Patch and Disappearing 9 Patch

Many of you wanted actual instructions for the Disappearing 4 Patch and 9 Patch blocks that Cathy showed at Guild meeting.

Here are some instructions for the Disappearing 9 patch printed out...

These instructions I found on the internet at Neighborhood Quilt Club.  Here is the link to their tutorial incase you want to look at their pictures and follow the instructions from them.

The only instructions I have for the Disappearing 4 Patch is out of the Fons & Porter Magazine  Quilting Quickly Winter 2013.  It is a pattern by Jenny Doan of the Missouri Star Quilt Co.  I have scanned in the pages for your use.  (She also has a Youtube Video you can watch)  (These blocks do not come out as 12 1/2" blocks but if you use 7" squares of fabric instead of 5" squares of fabric it will come out bigger and then square it up(or trim it) to 12 1/2")

You can save these instructions by right clicking on the picture and click "save image as" to save it to your computer.  Then go to where you saved it and print it.

Any questions feel free to call...Susan 253-2249

Quilt Guild Meeting Thursday Jun 19, 2014

(A little tip :  If you want to subscribe to our blog you can receive notification by email of any new posts by clicking on the subscribe button on the right had side of the blog.)

We had a great meeting on Thursday.  So much to report.  First up was Show and tell.  Arlene showed some blocks she completed.  Everyone loved the purple.

Then Cathy showed some mini quilts she has been making.

Sorry for the bad pictures...I will try to take better pictures in the future.  If any of you take pictures and want to submit them just email them to oldcapitalquiltguild@gmail.com and I will use them.

Susan showed some things she did at Panguitch Quilt Walk.  One was a star quilt block.  I didn't get a picture of the individual block but here is a picture of the completed quilt top.
Cathy told about  our block of the month and showed us Disappearing 4 Patch blocks.

 And Disappearing 9 Patch blocks...

I will post more info on them and give some detailed instruction in another post.  We also discussed another block of the month and I will be posting info in another post.

We also handed out cards with the blog address on them and the email address on them.

Next we enjoyed a wonderful Trunk Show by DeAnn Wiley (she is Marlene Whicker's daughter) from Hurricane.  Here are a few of the pictures.

After the trunk show we enjoyed a wonderful lunch provided by Cathy and Sue.  Thanks ladies!!

Deann Wiley stayed after lunch to teach us how to make a circle quilt.  It was called Charming Circles.
Cathy fussy cut some cute little animals to make hers...
Arlene made a cute circle...

Susan Tried her hand a making one...

If anyone else made one and I didn't get a picture of it I am sorry.  Please email any photos to me and I will post them...

That wraps it up for today...I will post again on Monday with the instructions for blocks.

This is the first post on our new blog for the Old Capital Quilt Guild.  We have a lot of members and enjoy getting together monthly to share our inspirations and our projects.  We will be posting pictures of show and tell projects.  We will also share our Block of the Month accomplishments.  This will be a place people in our guild can come to see what has gone on in our meetings and what will be happening in the future.  Members feel free to leave comments about content and what you want different.  This is your blog and everyone has a say as to what we put on it.
