Volunteers needed

I wanted to add this post to our blog...Hope you can help out.

Hi quilters. The guild has an opportunity to participate in a service project at the library during December. We have been asked to notify those that may be interested, to teach children how to tie quilts and for volunteers to bind the quilts. They will be gathering at the library on the following Thursdays from 3-4:00pm: December 3, 10 and 17th. Please contact the library if you would like to participate (435-743-5314).

Pictures from our last meeting

First of all we had some show and tell

Larona made a purse out of plastic bags and showed us the lining.

Georgia made a king size quilt.

 Marsha made some table runners

 And a beautiful quilt
And Connie made a wall hanging

And Susan made a Harley Davidson quilt top

 And a Halloween Quilt
And is working on another quilt called Framed Friendship

Cathy showed us the block of the month in different colorways

Sue also reminded us that there are current Block (Missouri Star Quilt Co) magazines available for $4.00.  She buys them wholesale and gives them to us at the low price. She still has a few back issues available. This magazine has great quilt patterns in it and contains no advertising

We also got to partake of a wonderful lunch.

Upcoming November meeting

Our Quilt Guild meeting will be November 9th at 11:00 am at the library. We will be continuing with a Block of the Month theme.  The wonderful thing about BOMs is their versatility. Put three together for a table runner for every day use, or construct them with holiday or seasonal fabrics for special occasion use. Put a few more together for a wall hanging or add even more for a bed quilt.  We will build upon block techniques learned last year and we think you will love learning the new blocks selected for this year. If you have a favorite style block you would like to demonstrate, just let Cathy know and we will put you on the calendar.

Here is our November block:

It may look difficult but with the instructions it will be easier than you think..

Full instructions for Novembers block can be found at:

delawarequilts.com/BOMs/Gamecocks/index.html or just click HERE

If you want you can bring your fabric to cut out or if you are anxious to get started and want to bring your finished block to show to inspire us all.  We love to see the color combos used.

As promised here is a list of local longarmers:

Monique Hudson in Scipio   758 2699
Ann Morgan in Delta  (Website is  Quilts 4 You)  864-4000
Deb Carling in Fillmore   435-979-2012

Here is the current roster of Guild participants.

Remember you can right click on the pictures and save them to your computer and print them.

Don't forget to bring Show and Tell.

Great Meeting Yesterday!

We had such a super meeting yesterday...But first up was the show and tell!

Cindy Day has been busy making quilts

Susan Paxton finished her pink and orange quilt

Donna made this magical quilt

And Cathy made another Quatrefoil quilt

Georgia showed us a cute witch she made

And then we had a real treat... Connie Martin did a quilt show for us. This was real eye candy and lots of inspiration for us.  She told us how she started quilting and stories of each of the quilts.

This next one is call a Joseph Smith Tribute Quilt.  Connie numbered the blocks and told us what each block represented.  Everyone loved this one.

After all of this wonderfulness both Arlene's treated us to Salads and Bread Sticks from 5 Buck Pizza.  All in all it was a fun and enlightening meeting.
