Old Capitol Quilt Guild
2025 Quilt Show

"Stitches Through Time"

As part of the Millard County Fair and the Old Capitol Arts and Living History Festival, our guild had a quilt show in the Armory. Terri and Jana were chairwomen of our spectacular quilt show. The theme was "Stitches Through Time." Over 110 quilts were entered. Eight hundred sixty people attended our quilt show this year.
As people attended our show, we offered an "I Spy" activity. They were given a paper with 25 items to locate in the quilts they were examining. Adults and children alike participated in spying things in the displayed quilts. They looked for pink flamingoes, an American flag, a stamp, two turtles, a black sheep, and many other intriguing items.
By participating in the "I Spy" activity, you received a piece of candy. Those who found all 25 items won a silver quilting charm. If you had a hard time finding an item, staff members in the information area were known to provide clues as to the missing item's location. Some members even went so far as to walk you to the quilt where the item could be found. Both adults and children enjoyed this fun and engaging activity.
Our colorful, timeless quilt show was a huge success. We displayed not only currently made quilts, but also displayed quilts that were made many years ago and have become "timeless treasures." We have posted pictures of some of the entries in the show. Next year, we will make sure we get a picture of every quilt in the show.
We would like to thank all those who worked to make this quilt show a great success. A special thank you to the following people:
- Jana Whicker, Terri Cummings, and their helpers for countless hours organizing and producing our quilt show.
- Rachael West, Jackie Bryan, and the Millard County Fair board for their support and help.
- The many guild members who helped to set up the quilt stands and hang the quilts.
- The brave and strong men who came to help us put up the stands, hang the quilts, and calm our nerves.
- The many guild members who made the ribbons given to each quilt that was displayed.
- Those who contributed quilts for display, both current and from years ago.
- Our quilting friend from Delta for contributing quilts to our quilt show.
- A special thank you to all who attended the quilt show. Many of you thanked us and said you look forward to our show next year. We loved hearing your compliments.
We genuinely are also looking forward to our quilt show next year. We are too. It will be amazing!
Following the success of this quilt show, we hope you will consider creating and entering a quilt in next year's quilt show. We promise to do better at taking pictures of the quilts entered in our show.
Note for next year: Some valuable lessons were learned at this year's quilt show. Next year, we would like quilts to have a label on the back to help us identify who contributed the quilt and more easily return it to its creator or contributor.
