November 2025

Welcome

Since Chris Ann had eye surgery, Ellen led our morning session. She did a great job. However, we missed Chris Ann. By the way, her surgery went well, and she can see better now.

On-Time Drawing

Our on-time drawing was won by Beverly Veale. She chose a gift from our Goodie Box. Good choice, Bev.

Service Projects

Arlene Bartholomew told us about our service projects. We are doing a two-pronged approach this year.

First, we are donating items to the Veterans' Care Center in Payson. These items can be used by the Veterans, or they can be given to family members as small gifts for Christmas. Items can include pajamas, toiletries, sweets, or any other appropriate item.

Second, we are continuing throughout the year to help students at Fillmore Middle School and Fillmore Elementary with snacks. These snacks go home with students whose families might need a little help. This helps the families and the students.

We will continue to take items for the Veterans through our December meeting. We will take items through May for the schools.

We are very blessed to be able to help with both of these projects. Thank you to those who have already donated items. You and your generous hearts are wonderful!

Block of the Month

Suzanne Hillestad revealed our next basket block for our Basket Quilt of the Month. It is very cute.

Suzanne said this looks like a complicated block, but if you divide it into rows, it is not hard at all.

Here are some of the blocks members made from last month's block. They are charming. Beverly Veale was creative and added flowers to her basket. It is not too late to do a block. Get the pattern from Chris Ann or Suzanne.

Tips, Tricks, and Techniques

                                                         by Karen and Tafta

Karen Jordan and Tafta Watson demonstrated Foundation Paper Piecing, or FPP.

Karen taught us how to FPP by sewing through the paper pattern.

Tafta demonstrated how to FPP by folding back the paper and NOT sewing through the paper pattern.

She also showed us the difference between English Paper Piecing (EPP) and Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP).

Grandmother's Garden blocks are an example of English Paper Piecing. It is beautiful, but we are talking about Foundation Paper Piecing this month.

Show and Share

Suzanne Hillestad displayed this beautiful quilt in both the morning and evening sessions. It is made from all the star blocks that Suzanne sewed last year as she demonstrated how to make each Block of the Month quilt block. It is stunning.

Rita Tanner had this delightful quilt at the quilters for quilting. Since she could not show us the actual quilt, she did the next best thing. She showed us a picture on her phone.

For this almost twin-size quilt, she used not quite two layer cakes. She bought the material for the stop border and the outer borders. It's eye-catching the way the purple borders set off the pieced blocks.

Looks fantastic, Rita.

How blessed we are to be able to take time to                                        remember our blessings.

When we count our blessings, we count you!
