September 2026 - Abracadabra Quilt Magic

Abracadabra - Let the magic begin!

Our new year is beginning with a magical start.

Karen Jordan, our new Quilt Guild President, waved her magic wand and magically welcomed everyone.

Dues

Dues for the year were paid. Dues are $25. You can bring your dues to our next meeting or send them to Suzanne Hillestad or Karen Jordan.

Prize Drawing

Everyone received a chip for a prize drawing. Arlene Reid had the lucky chip and won the prize.

2027-2028 Folders and Bingo

Ellen Harmon handed out this year's folders. She also explained our new Quilting Bingo card.

Plans for the Year

Karen told us some of the fun things we will be doing this year.

We will create magic with disappearing quilt blocks. It is going to be fun.

Denise Rohbock explained the process to the morning guild, and Deanna Peterson explained it to the evening guild. They told us what we need to sew for our October and November projects.

We gave fabric to those attending to sew into a Four-Patch block and bring it back to our meeting next month. We could make more than one block. We can make more than one block. We were encouraged to make 4 blocks.

When we bring our four-patch blocks back to guild next month, Denise and Deanna will demonstrate ideas for creating disappearing four-patch blocks. Everyone will make something different. We will each use our creativity to magically make our own unique block by using different disappearing techniques and fabrics.

We all agreed that it will be fun to try these new techniques.

Announcement

Karen told us that the 4-H is asking for volunteers to help with their sewing club. There will be 6 one-hour lessons starting September 1 through October 31, 2026.  Let Karen know if you can help. She can give you the details.

Getting to Know Each Other

We had a sharing time. Each person took a turn and told about themselves. After listening to everyone, we agreed that we all loved living in our small towns. It also became clear that we all loved quilting.

Show and Share

Here are some of the items shared.

Candy Salad

To celebrate our opening guild meetings, we had a Candy Salad.  Everyone brought some candy. We mixed it together, Karen waved her magic wand, and Abracadabra, we had a Candy Salad. It was very healthy and delicious.

Special thanks to Anna Weidauer and Suzanne Hillestad for taking pictures at our morning meeting, and Valene Haupt and Jodi Beck for the pictures of our evening meeting.
